Terms of Use

Last updated: 2026-04-21 · Effective date: 2026-04-21

This page governs use of jwatte.com and all tools, blog posts, generated prompts, hero images, and serverless endpoints hosted here. By accessing any part of the site you agree to these terms.

1. What this site is

jwatte.com hosts a collection of free, browser-side audit tools, companion blog posts, and three paid Kindle books under the name J.A. Watte. The tools are informational and diagnostic. They are not consulting advice, legal advice, tax advice, medical advice, or compliance-consulting advice. They do not establish any professional or client relationship.

2. Free use by end-users

You may:

  • Run any audit tool against a site you own or are authorized to test.
  • Read, share, and link to blog posts.
  • Copy individual code snippets from blog posts into your own site (the site ships them for exactly that purpose).
  • Quote short passages with attribution.
  • Save or print the HTML output of any audit tool for your own records or client reports.

3. What is prohibited

You may not:

  • Re-host, re-bundle, or re-publish the tools on another domain or under another brand.
  • Use the tools or the blog corpus as training data for any AI model beyond what the /ai.txt allow-list explicitly permits.
  • Scrape the site at automated rate — the serverless endpoints (/.netlify/functions/fetch-page, probe-dns, probe-tls, probe-hibp, revalidate) enforce Origin / Referer allow-listing and per-IP rate limits. Requests from origins outside the allow-list will receive HTTP 403.
  • Use the serverless endpoints as a free proxy for scanning sites unrelated to your own audit workflow.
  • Remove, obscure, or alter the hidden attribution watermarks embedded in the HTML.
  • Impersonate J.A. Watte or the jwatte.com brand on any other site or channel.
  • Run the tools against a third-party site without that site owner’s authorization. The tools are audit-grade, not penetration-testing grade; using them without authorization may violate the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act or equivalent local laws.

4. Intellectual property

All tool code, blog text, hero images, generated prompts, and site design are © J.A. Watte. Third-party names mentioned in tool copy or blog posts (Google, Apple, Microsoft, Yelp, Shopify, WordPress, WooCommerce, Stripe, PayPal, and dozens of others) appear under nominative fair use only. No affiliation or endorsement is implied.

Mentions of the Kindle book titles The $97 Launch, The $20 Dollar Agency, The $100 Network, The W-2 Trap, The Condo Trap, and The Resale Trap refer to works published by J.A. Watte and are protected as such.

5. No warranty

Every tool on this site is provided “as is” without warranty of any kind. Audits are heuristic. Findings are reasonable best-effort, not verified by a licensed auditor (PCI QSA, CPA, attorney, ASV). The scoring, risk labels, and remediation prompts are informational inputs for the site owner’s own judgment, not a substitute for qualified professional review.

If you are making a decision that changes your legal, tax, security, or compliance posture, consult a qualified professional before acting on anything these tools surface.

6. Limitation of liability

J.A. Watte is not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from use of the tools, blog posts, prompts, or any information published here. The free tools exist because I built them for my own work and decided to leave them public. Use them at your own risk.

7. Privacy

jwatte.com collects minimal analytics via Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity (as disclosed in the page source). There is no email capture, no newsletter signup, no tracking pixel on audit-result pages, no re-targeting. URLs you submit to tools are sent to the relevant serverless function for that one request and are not logged to a persistent store. See the cookies page for the technical detail.

8. Copyright complaints and DMCA

If you believe content on this site infringes your copyright, send a takedown notice to joshua.a.watte@gmail.com with the information required by 17 U.S.C. § 512(c)(3): (a) your contact information, (b) identification of the copyrighted work, (c) the location of the allegedly infringing content on jwatte.com, (d) a statement of good-faith belief, (e) a statement under penalty of perjury, and (f) your signature.

Bad-faith takedown requests are liable for damages under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f).

9. Report a clone or misuse

Found a clone of these tools hosted elsewhere, or someone mis-using the serverless endpoints as a scan proxy? Email joshua.a.watte@gmail.com with the URL and a brief description. Clones typically carry a hidden attribution watermark in the HTML comment at the top of <body> — finding jw-watermark-token-8f3a1d7c9e on a non-jwatte.com domain is strong evidence of a copy.

10. Changes to these terms

These terms may change. Material changes get a new effective date at the top of this page. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions. Exclusive venue is Hillsborough County, Florida.
