Federal Profile Checker

See what a contracting officer or a prime sees when they look your business up in SBA's Small Business Search, and whether your website says the same thing. Checks the profile fields buyers read, your SBA certifications and their dates, prime awards on record, how your profile compares with peers, and every place your site's claims disagree with the record.

1. Business to check

With only a website, the checker reads the UEI from the site (footer, capabilities page text, JSON-LD) or, failing that, the legal name. It reads the home page, llms.txt and, when llms.txt links it, llms-full.txt. With only a UEI or name, it shows the SBA profile without the site comparison.

What this checks, and why

Where the record comes from

SBA's Small Business Search is the public directory contracting officers and prime contractors use to build source lists for set-asides and subcontracting plans. It took over from the old Dynamic Small Business Search. The record mixes what SAM.gov holds (legal name, UEI, CAGE code, NAICS codes, address, SAM status) with what the business typed into its SBA profile (capabilities narrative, keywords, capability statement, contact details, performance history) and SBA's own certifications (8(a), HUBZone, WOSB, EDWOSB, VOSB, SDVOSB) with entrance and exit dates. This checker sends the same search the public page sends, one per check, and reads the profile page's performance history only when exactly one business matches.

Site versus record

Certifications named on the page text, the meta keywords, the page title, JSON-LD and llms.txt are compared with SBA's active certifications. Each mention is read in its own clause: "SBA certified SDVOSB" is a claim, "SDVOSB pending" is pending, and "we team with 8(a) firms on set-asides" describes the market and is not counted against you. UEI, CAGE and NAICS codes on the site are compared with the record, and so are the city and state. A certification the site claims and SBA does not show is the most serious finding: buyers check, and a competitor can protest an award.

Peer benchmark and awards

The peer benchmark runs one more search: firms in the same state with the same active certification that list the same NAICS code, and the share of them that fill in a capabilities narrative, keywords, a capability statement link and a public email. It is cached for two days per state, certification and code. Prime award counts come from USAspending.gov (contracts and IDVs since FY2008, by UEI). Agencies report with a lag and Defense publishes contract actions with a 90-day delay, so a new award can be missing for a while, and most subcontracts never appear there.

The paste kit and SBA's field limits

The narrative skeleton and keyword list are assembled from the site's own headings, Service JSON-LD and the SBA record, with [CONFIRM] wherever only you know the answer. The limits come from SBA's profile editor: a capabilities narrative under 1,000 characters and 750 characters of keywords in total. SBA publishes no separate field guide with these numbers; they were read from the editor's code on October 24, 2026. Edit the profile through MySBA Certifications; NAICS codes, address and SAM status come from SAM.gov, so change those there.

FAQ

Why does my SBA profile matter if I am registered in SAM.gov?

SAM registration makes you eligible for awards. The SBA Small Business Search profile is where contracting officers and primes find you when they build a source list. An empty narrative and keyword list means a keyword search for what you do does not return you.

My email shows as "hidden by the business". Is that a problem?

It is your choice, but a buyer who finds you in the search cannot email you from there. Most firms show a shared inbox such as a bids or contracts address rather than a personal one.

The city in SBA differs from my website. Which is right?

SBA shows the physical address from SAM.gov. If the website shows a mailing address or a virtual office, label it as the mailing address and make sure SAM holds the physical one. A different state changes which state and HUBZone searches find you.

Does the checker store my data?

It keeps the trimmed public SBA answer in a cache for up to 12 hours (peer statistics for 48 hours) so repeated checks do not load SBA's service. It never keeps the contact person's name, and keeps an email, phone or street address only when SBA itself shows it publicly. Nothing you type is stored with your identity.

Can it see my SAM.gov registration details?

Only what SBA shows in its own record: the SAM status code, NAICS codes and address fields. The full SAM entity record needs a signed-in SAM.gov account, which this tool does not use.

Disclaimer

One check sends one SBA Small Business Search request, one SBA profile read and two USAspending requests from jwatte.com's server (fewer when the answer is cached), plus up to three reads of the website through the same guarded fetch proxy the other tools use.
